I’ve been an avid reader for most of my life. Now that I’m older, I find that books are the perfect little getaways from a hectic life as a stay at home mom. In the past few years, I’ve found a great community of readers on TikTok, under the hashtag #booktok! One of the most popular concepts on BookTok is the TBR or To Be Read list. This is a list of books that you want to read; kind of like a Netflix queue for books. I always have a huge TBR list because I want to read everything I can! Here’s a sneak peek at my TBR list.

Light-hearted Romance Books
Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood
This book centers around a physicist who also works as a fake girlfriend for extra money. Her worlds collide when she finds out that one of her favorite clients is related to the head of the physics department! This is a great setup for a fun romance, and I can’t wait to read it.
Two for the Road by Chantel Guertin
This book has two of the most romantic settings of all time: a bookstore and the English countryside. Additionally, I’ve heard that the group of travelers that the main character gets stuck with on her countryside tour is super fun and quirky. It was an instant add to my to be read list!
Secretly Yours by Tessa Bailey
Secretly Yours is a little bit spicier than the first two, and sounds like a ton of fun. It’s a story of childhood sweethearts and wine-fueled girls’ nights. Because of the fun premise, Secretly Yours is a TBR list staple and a great beach read.
Thrilling Suspense Books
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
I’ve been wanting to read this book for years, I’ve heard so many great things about it! The Midnight Library is magical and allows the main character, Nora, to live her life as if she had done things differently. Reviewers say the book is deep, sad, and absolutely captivating!
None of This is True by Lisa Jewell
I love the premise of this suspense book. The main character is Alix, a popular true crime podcaster, who crosses paths with a mysterious woman with a lot of secrets. Reviewers call this book a page-turner and are obsessed with how Alix becomes the subject of her own podcast. Since the spooky Halloween season is upon us, this is definitely a great TBR list addition.
Engaging Fantasy Books
The Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
You can pretty much bet on the fact that the “Empyrean” series, starting with the Fourth Wing, is going to be a huge movie or TV franchise in the next few years. The books focus on students of a war college for dragon riders. Reviewers say the books are adventure-filled, exciting, and romantic. Even though this isn’t my usual genre, I can’t wait to read these books.
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
BookTok is absolutely obsessed with this fantasy series from Sarah J. Maas. Therefore, I have to give it a try! The main character is a nineteen-year-old huntress named Feyre who is taken to a magical land filled with lethal, immortal faeries. Because thousands of reviewers say the book blends romance, adventure, and magic, I feel like I’ll love it. Regardless, I had to add it to my TBR list to see what all the hype is about!
