Lipsticks seem to be a girls best friend. I know so many girls who have drawers, cupboards, rooms full of lipsticks!… Different colours, textures, and shades. Unfortunately for me this has never seemed to be the case, I have struggled with finding the right colours, staying power and texture… They always seem to be too glossy or too drying!
… This was until now!
When the mastermind behind the company Makeup Meltdown, Miss Aleah Rae, gave me the opportunity to create my own lipstick… Well I freaked out a little… ‘YES! YES! YES!’ I screamed.
The first step in producing your custom lipstick is to fill out a questionnaire. This helps the peeps over at Makeup Meltdown create the most perfect product to fit your requirements:
E.g. matte or shimmer?
They also ask you to send in a couple snaps so they can best determine a complimentary shade for your skin.
Once that is all said and done, you will receive three sample colours. These samples vary in shade, and texture. Unfortunately for me the first set of samples actually looked too pink against my skin. However included in the cost of the product you get two sets of samples… so they quickly sent over a new batch for me to try.
I fell for number 3!
A week later my custom lippie arrived… and I’m obsessed!
Oh did I forget to mention… you also choose your packaging! I opted for this sleek all black tube… because I’m fancy like that.
I had explained to Aleah that my previous one and only lipstick that I wore none stop was Mac Taupe… Using her lips’pertise (haha) she re-invented the most perfect cc lippie.
The lipstick is matte, however it is creamy and just glides across your lips. It’s moisturizing not drying (which I tend to find Mac ‘taupe’ was), it’s perfect.
The whole process including shipping took just over two weeks, however it was so much fun! The whole picking your shade and packaging makes you feel like a movie star. What a memorable experience.
A custom lippie is such a great treat for yourself… I mean we all need spoiling. It also makes a fantastic gift for a special someone… Christmas is coming up sooner than you think!!
