5 Ways To Stay Focused

Hello Loves

When it comes to being and staying focused we all know that I’m not the strongest in that department… I mean heck I’ve already seen 3 squirrels. But there are a couple of tips and tricks I have learned over these years of being freelance that I think are pretty helpful.

Timing

For me, the main way to stay focused is timing. I am not the earliest of birds, I am more like that bird that will keep the nest safe while the others get my food. When working for yourself or freelance you often have the opportunity to create your own schedule. DO IT! If you aren’t an early riser don’t push it, figure out the time when you are at your most productive and start your day then. For some this could even be in the evening, in fact I am one of those people. Sometimes I find my biggest inspiration at 2/3am (yep I am an insomniac), I have a notebook by my bed that I write down all my thoughts and ideas in.

Space

Find your space. Where are you at your most creative? For me that place is Starbucks… I live off of that white noise.. I’m also super nosey haha. But for others this can be in a completely silent room. Take the time to create a space for yourself that inspires you.

Plan

Take an hour or so to plan your week. For me I like to do this on a Sunday. I grab myself a cup of my fav tea, hit the play button on some Billie Eilish and get snuggly with my cute new 2019 agenda. This allows you to plan out your week and know exactly what to focus on each day.

Setting

Set up your work area before you start. Grab your trenti Starbucks (oh that’s just me?!), your cookies and blanket oh and pens paper BEFORE you start working. This means when you’re on a roll you don’t have to break concentration to go get a bloody laptop charger… just plug it in before.

Break Time

Some times you just need to take a break. There is NOTHING wrong with that. Taking a break is a great way to go off and clear your head. It allows you to come back to your work refreshed and with a more clear vision. So stop go make yourself some lunch.

This is so on point dear, failing to plan is planning to fail. So yes, you need a good tangible plan. And yes, break time is a must. Jessica | notjessfashion.com
