2017 Spring Cleaning Plan

Hello Loves,

Time is flying by and the dreaded thought of Spring cleaning is stepping on my heels. This year, I decided to get a head start on the out with the old and have a go at clearing out my closet.

Standing in my overflowing walk-in, I realized I’m a hoarder… gross! My closet houses some truly weird shit… such as my PJ’s from when I was about 12, they don’t fit anymore (obviously) and have a hole in the butt area, but they remind me of Christmas day and opening gifts from Santa and they also have a really cute floral print all over them.

I hoard items that I won’t ever wear again, but there will be some stupid story of this one time when I wore it and something happened. Like the sweater I wore when I first tried In N Out Burger… stupid, I know.

So this year, I devised a plan to figure out what to keep and what to donate.

  1. If I haven’t worn it in the past year, chuck it
  2. If it makes my husband laugh it’s probably not a keeper
  3. If I can’t share it on the blog, I don’t think it’s suitable for the public
  4. If it doesn’t fit now, it never will
  5. If it’s on the worst trends list, it’s ugly

This plan worked, I was able to clear a huge amount of my closet… 6 bags worth to be exact! Although, I miss the things that were once there, I am made happier again by the prospect of shopping and filling that newly created space. Ughhh, I think I have a problem!

Amen to that. I’ve always thought that the purpose of fashion trends is to refresh your wardrobe periodically… it’s not just a conspiracy to make us buy new clothes.

Lol! I love your cut throat approach to Spring cleaning for your wardrobe. I really need to be a lot better at this as I have so many pieces just hanging and collecting dust. My wardrobe is actually bursting at the seems!

Yes! How good does it feel to do a Spring clean and free up some space? I have a strange love of decluttering and getting rid of things I really don’t need. haha, not sure what that is all about!

I need those shoes! and I super agree with your list. I actually need more clothes. Moving around from one country to another leaves me with just a few clothes as I have to constantly toss them. But deifnetly on point with everything you said.

I’ve just finished my wardrobe detox too and I love thinking about how to fill the new found space!
I love your guidelines – I follow most of them, although I have a sneaky extra one (they go into storage boxes or bags for three months in case I change my mind, but if I haven’t missed them in that time then they go!)
Love your outfit too – those mules are just gorgeous!
