The September Issue

Hello Loves!

Am I the only one whose frustrated with this years Vogue September issue? In case you didn’t know Kendall Jenner is this years cover girl. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against the Jenner/Kardashian clan… I’m just over it. They are everywhere!!

I have been avid Vogue September Issue collector since 2010, they are my bibles. I am proud of my collection, even excited to pass it along to my future children (whether they like it or not! Hah!). However I have seen the decline in the quality of this highly anticipated publication. Gone are the times where classic models and actresses such as Kate Moss (2011) and Halle Berry (2010) graced the cover, icons that spent years of hard work to be given the privilege to be featured on the glossy cover of Vogue.

I just don’t understand why Vogue is jumping on this hype or the what’s trending bandwagon. There was a time that Vogue started the trends, if you were seen in Vogue you would then become famous… not the other way round. I just feel that it’s a little too premature for Kendall to be on the cover, I don’t feel that she has earned it yet.

Oh gosh… and don’t even get me started on their new size?! What the heck, why is it bigger?? It has completely ruined the way my collection looks on the shelf!

What do you think about the new September Issue??

OMG I am not happy with the September issue either! It’s like give me a break already! The jenner/kardashian clan are everywhere and it’s annoying! I would like to see people with real talent being advertised than these women. Kendall got this modelling opportunity handed to her and she’s on the cover of Vogue! She is so commerical! I am over it! Can the real Anna Wintour stand up?! Who is she now?

Love your blog! Let’s be blog buddies! Following your blog now 😀

I don’t really collect any issues of the magazines and now you said it, it is actually good idea to collect the special issues! I don’t really like seeing Kardashians everywhere, seriously they are everywhere and it gets annoying. Love the casual and chic look! x

I haven’t read the Vogue you’re speaking of but I saw the cover page. I think Kendall is a kind of safe bet and it’s like a “marketing thing”. I read the French one and I don’t why I didn’t liked it as well, the photos was blurred in purpose… Well, really didn’t liked it…

I didn’t buy the September issue because I just didn’t liked the cover. Totally agree where are the times when Vogue made trends instead of hopping on a bandwagon………..anyway love your OOTD. You look so chic and beautiful.

I love Vogue, but let’s be real, they’re very much about being current. Remember when they put Kim and Kanye on the cover? It’s like attracting a huge audience and ruffling some feathers, no such thing as bad publicity right?

I love this layered look and your casual vibe. You always have such amazing style. I see your point regarding the September issue, I always look forward to the Fall Fashion Bible and I actually was surprised to see Kendall Jenner grace the cover. She is gorgeous and I guess it is just a sign of the times that we are in a social media type of world. Hmmm… xoxo, Christine

Round of applause for you girl, I really couldn’t have said it better myself! I’ve noticed a decline in the quality of content and resource in Vogue these past few years, too. In fact, it was only a couple of years ago that the September issue resembled a pamphlet than an actually fall issue and then it got huge. I think they’re trying to appeal to a younger audience, who is so easily influenced by social media and “reality” tv, which in essence is changing the whole scope and history of the magazine, which was previously in my eyes more of a culture. You are so right, many models would gain more exposure and recognition after gracing the cover or being featured, not the other way around. I’m honestly tired of the Kardashian/Jenner clan. Don’t get me wrong, they are all gorgeous women, but I feel as though they don’t have much of a positive influence on women in general, especially teens. It’s all about sex and it’s overly sexualizing them. I don’t know. Anyway, as for YOU, I love how you’ve styled your slip dress here with a striped turtleneck. You look so incredibly chic and this outfit is such an inspiration for fall! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you have the most amazing weekend ahead!

I understand – but since the “Kimye” cover did so well I think it’s just a business move. Even though everyone says they’re sick of them everyone still keeps buying into it. They’re money-makers. But I totally get what you’re saying.

On another note – love this outfit! The black and white striped top under this slip dress is perfect – especially with some Adidas kicks! You look gorgeous!

I haven’t seen how big the issue is this year, but I definitely agree you need to earn your stripes to be on that cover. Love your style today!

Girl, trust me. I am so mad about that cover. But I am choosing to ignore it honestly. The October issue will probably be released soon and we will all forget about that mess. But let’s face it, American Vogue is just a pile of crap nowadays!! Total sell outs!! Who cares about 1 billion likes? The girl isn’t changing the world. She’s been handed everything in life – including her million dollar modeling contract. Grrrr!! Anyways, enough ranting. I love how you layered this look. So chic!

Gorgeous outfit! I love Vogue and while I haven’t seen the new issue, dare I say it may be just a marketing strategy because of the following Kendall has?

first of i love this look, it’s casual chic perfection! second, i definitely see your point on Vogue, publications are not doing well these days, so it’s probably a marketing tactic on their end. oh well, thanks for sharing, great post as always!

I agree about the cover girl choice. In the past Vogue was making trends, now it feels like they are just following them. I get the business side of it, but it still feels kind of sad.
On the other note, love your look! 🙂
