I have gone back and forth debating with myself whether I should write this blog post or not. As a blogger it’s hard to know what to keep personal and sacred, and what to share with the world. Should I expose this judgement and ridicule? I have found however that you, my beautiful readers are so loving and kind… you are all apart of my life, in some weird interweb kinda way. So I guess I should share the happiest day of my life with you… to a certain extent. The details and events of my wedding will remain a secret to only those whom attended (sorry not sorry), but my apparel of the day shall become public knowledge… I mean this is technically a fashion blog. Also my mum has already shared all my pictures of the day on her Facebook. I will be shocked if they haven’t somehow been shared onto your Facebook page… older ladies be all over that repost.
So before all my pictures get leaked to US weekly (I am sure my mother has already submitted), I figured I should give you guys a preview. Although if you follow me on Snapchat (username Filzer… check me out) then you will have already seen a sneak peek.
Anyway back to the dress. It seems like I am the most easy going bride in the world. Who would have thought? Finding my dream wedding dress took a total of 2 minutes! Guess I know what I want. I traveled to Chicago in a trio which included my mother and maid of honor, on a weekend long wedding dress hunting trip (or so my party thought). I knew I wanted to go to the store BHLDN, after seeing all it’s wonder on Instagram, and this would be the closest location. I didn’t even book any other fittings, just the solo fitting at the magical BHLDN (shhhh don’t tell my Mum, she thinks we had a day full). Walking into the store made everything real! I was getting married! However I didn’t waste anytime…. I pretty much walked through the store doors, looked to my left and saw my dream dress on a mannequin in the bridesmaid section. Badda bing badda boom! Hah!
I still can’t believe that technically this dress, my dress, is a bridesmaid dress… that’s some fancy ass wedding! But I was so in love I didn’t even care. Although I did have to try on a few frogs for my mum (JK everything was stunning) before pulling the trigger, just so she could… you know…. cry a little. After making me try on her beloved ballgown fetish even she knew that this was my dress. The whole bloody store knew that this was my dress. Wrap it up. Now let’s party! CHEERS!
Our wedding started off a little dramatic, it rained! In fact the whole wedding had to be moved! But we were ready to make this commitment, the rain didn’t matter… our daywas perfect. I was even able to keep my anxiety completely under wraps. It was meant to be. It was magical.
