Hello Loves!

As I stand butt naked in my closet trying to find an outfit for today, I can NEVER find anything to wear, I am distracted by the overwhelming amount of plaid I own. I never really noticed before, but I must have a thing for plaid (I mean I am half Scottish). I have counted 4 plaid coats, 2 jackets, 1 top, 4 scarves, 1 pair of shorts, 7 shirts, and 5 pairs of pants all in varying colours.

I just love the versatility of plaid, it is so easy to look presentable when wearing plaid… sweatpants and sneaker combo, throw on a plaid coat and you immediately look chic, without trying too hard. I woke up like this! Haaayyy!

As plaid is now a ‘thing’, I am thrilled that my closet is already supplying me with the trending topic. Thank you closet. However there are so many options on the market, from high end to low end everyone is crazy about plaid!

I have rounded up just a couple of my fav plaids…

Hello Loves!

You all know (you should) that this past June I visited Miami for the first time with my wifey Amy. We stayed at Loews Miami Beach hotel and I quickly fell in love with the brand (check out blog post here). You all also know (you should), that I returned to Miami and Loews Miami Beach hotel in Aug this time with the hubs!

Sameer had never been to Miami, and so we thought this was a perfect place to go for a quick Labour Day weekend away. I was so excited to introduce him to my Loews family, show him all my fav spots and discover new ones hand in hand.

We were again greeted by the most amazing staff, and taken up to a gorgeous king balcony suite, with the most beautiful view of the pool and beach. This time I was determined not only to take advantage of the hotel and it’s MANY facilities, which we totally did…

  • We sunbathed in the Soak cabanas
  • Watched the sunset from our balcony
  • Went on a quick kayaking trip
  • Enjoyed delicious eats and treats at Miami Jo Coffee Co.

But I also wanted to explore and enjoy the neighborhood.

Loews Miami Beach is situated exactly where you want to be. You are walking distance from…

Lincoln Road

A never ending road of shopping, dining and entertainment. Home to stores such as Anthropologie, Forever 21, Zara, and incredible dining experiences from the likes of Havana 1957, Juvia, and Shake Shack.

Espanola Way

This place is so fun! Take a quick trip to Spain on this street. Enjoy delicious eats, live music and people watching galore. There are even people walking around snakes wrapped round them… it’s a pretty exciting place.

South Beach boardwalk

Grab a bike, go for a jog or walk hand in hand along the gorgeous boardwalk of South Beach. With picturesque views on the sand and sun, this is a lovely place to go for a romantic stroll.

Also, we found out that the tour bus to explore the rest of Miami stops right next to Loews, which was super duper convenient.

I didn’t think it was possible to fall more in love with Loews Miami Beach, but boy did I ever. It’s affordable, clean, perfectly located and gorgeous. A must stay for all walks of life.

Book your stay at Loews Miami Beach here.

Hello Loves!

I am not a coffee girl… AT ALL! I know massive blogger faux pas, but before you all start a witch hunt, I have a great excuse… I am actually allergic. So you can put down the pitch forks… it’s something to do with caffeine, when ingested it’s like a McGregor vs Mayweather fight… but way more aggressive!

But please don’t rule me out of your coffee dates yet, I’ve found a new way to enjoy the bean. I found a whole line of caffeine infused beauty products while looking at Amazon.ca fall beauty trends, Frank Body. Ok, well maybe I can’t use these in a cute little cafe, but we could totally have a pamper and coffee sesh at my place!

Frank Body is an all natural, cruelty free brand that gives great results. With all my trips this summer and now heading into fall, my skin is well… dry AF! I purchased the original Frank Body coffee scrub for some rough exfoliation, the body balm for some buttery moisturizing and the coconut body balm for all over body moisturizing… you can even use it in your hair!

But you might be wondering, why the whole coffee thing?…

1. Why not, jump on that trending train

2. Coffee increases circulation

3. Brightens skin

4. My fav… minimizes cellulite

So far I have seen great results, on my legs in particular… they are smoother, softer and have a glow about them. I must say I am now a proud ‘basic bitch’…. omg I so need coffee right now.

Hello Loves!

I don’t really know what to say right now, I feel like this blog post is just going to be my thoughts farted out into a confusing stinky mess. Sorry… I’m gross.

Where have I been? Over this past TIFF season I seemed to get a lot of people asking me what’s happened to this blog, why am I not writing anymore. To be honest, I’m actually not all that sure. I mean there are some contributing factors…

  1. Lack of inspiration
  2. Bored with what I was producing
  3. Feel more creative on Instagram
  4. Making more money on Instagram

But are these valid enough for me to give up what was once salvation for me?! Heck no! The reason why I started this blog was because I was sad and lonely, and now I’ve stopped I again feel sad and lonely. Why did I stop? This summer I took the time to think, I was lost for a second, wrapped up in the whole greedy ‘all about money’ world that I forgot who I am. I had to find myself…

I am Filipa Jade Jackson, 27 year old Leeds lass, living in a small rather quirky town outside of Toronto. I am a daughter to an interracial couple, sister to 4 creative and confusing boys, wife to my high school sweetheart, mother to a fluffy son. I have always been self employed, although I once did work at Nandos for 2 hours (I wasn’t paid). I am stubborn, moody, random, weird, a little funny and have permanent resting bitch face. I’m allergic to penicillin, caffeine, and guinea pigs. I love Netflix, Starbucks, IG fashion pages, prosecco with friends, and cheese… all the cheese. I can’t stand Suits (the show), fake people, ‘industry’ and sriracha. I suffer from social anxiety which means I will always have a friend and drink in hand, I have a constant fear of being judged. I never say the right thing, and my blog posts are boring as fuck (I’m also a cusser), but this is me… I am Filipa.

I plan to continue this blog, however this time I refuse to lose who I am. I will still work with companies I love and believe in, but my posts won’t be forced and sterile. Playing with Apparel is here to stay.

Sorry!

Hello Loves!

It’s nearly that time… alarms being set way too early, cold toast on the run for breakfast… ahhh it’s back to school time! What do you wear??!!

Going to school in the UK was easy, I didn’t have to think of what to wear… we all wore the same green jumpers with black pants, simple. Although I hated wearing an itchy ugly uniform at the time, as soon as I moved to Canada boy did I appreciate it. I will never forget my outfit on the first day of Canadian high school, OK don’t laugh! My outfit consisted of baggy blue jeans, white t-shirt, pink cardigan and matching pink Timberland boots! Ugggh! Funny thing is, is that I spent days planning this outfit, in my defense Timberland’s were the IT shoe and after a lifetime of having to wear the same thing day in day out, I guess I was a little blind to fashion.

Oh if I could go back in time.

Although school fashion had a minor blip thanks to Gossip Girl and their heels and headband clad students, I think (according to my 14 year old brother), girls school fashion is once again becoming normal and comfortable. I think that’s the main thing when it comes to school fashion, COMFORT, now I don’t mean pj’s (I know you have been there too) what I mean is simple, basic pieces. To illustrate what I this I went on a bit of a shopping rampage on my fav online establishment Amazon.ca. I was shocked at how quickly I found my perfect back to school outfit. By back to school for me I mean everyday attire (I am old now, I graduated uni 5 years ago!). I opted for simple and comfortable pieces that are still totally fashionable, and with Amazon.ca Prime shipping, your outfit will arrive waaaay before that dreaded first day.

Let me know what you think…
