Let me start this posting off by saying, I am not a fit person… never have been, probably will never be. It’s just not in my genetic code. So when I was asked by the lovely people over at Sport Chek, to be apart of their ‘Chase The Gear’ event at High Park, I’m not going to lie I kinda cringed. UGH. I am so inactive… apart from when it comes to shopping, I will walk every inch of a mall in search of the latest bag.
However with my Bali body pushing its way to the forefront of my mind, I decided to join in with the festivities. I also have to mention that two days prior to this past Fridays event, I did something to my legs… f’d them up shall we say. I was in a lot of pain, but with the motivation of my BFF Sonya, I trundled my way there.
Oh boy am I glad I did. It was so much fun! In celebration of the Olympics, Sport Chek had basically organized a MASSIVE game of tag! Who didn’t love tag growing up? Well me actually, I always hated being ‘it’… but still every childhood memory has a recap of playing tag!! Anyway, so the purpose of this game/event was to chase and snag a ‘tag’ that was hanging off of the backbacks of NHL legend Gary Roberts, and Olympians Natalie Spooner and Meaghan Mikkelson, in order to grab some free high performance Olympic collection Adidas gear! This stuff was super cool btw. Couldn’t make it? You were still able to be apart of all the fun with their Facebook live stream! Haha some of the comments on that thing were hilarious!
Although Sonya and I sadly didn’t win anything, we had a blast nevertheless. We were active, we made new friends in the community. We were even able to get those fitbit steps up in the process. Triple score!
I kinda hate to say it but I think that this event could have been a turning point for me, I want to be more active. I am excited to do more interactive fitness activities.
