Ways To Improve Yourself

Hello Loves,

A wise soul once told me, there is always room for self improvement. This is incredibly true. In months like this when the ever changing weather has me so incredibly uninspired, I find myself lost and confused. It is important to use this time to figure myself out.

What would I change about myself? What do I want to do? How could I be better? Consumed by my own thoughts, I am desperate to seek answers. While scouring the pages of Google I stumbled across this self help page, ‘Life Hack’, here there was a comprised list of 42 practical ways to improve yourself. Over the next year I plan to follow this guide, picking up a few ways each month. Now as I said above, there is always room for self improvement…. I am happy with what I have learnt and implemented into my life so far, and that is really the important thing isn’t it… feeling happy with ones self.

Here are a few ways I plan to improve myself over the month of April:

  • Reading

Now the guide asks you to read a book everyday, and for as much as I wish this to be possible it just isn’t. It also mentions some great self help books, which again unless they can also be used as a pillow I just can’t. I am however already an ‘avid’ reader, my bedside table is lost under piles of books (maybe my problem is, is that I’m a hoarder). I read as much as possible and have always found that, for me, getting lost in a good old mystery novel is the perfect ticket to inspire me.

  • Language

Number 2 out of 42 is to learn a new language. Now although I already have trouble with the English language, and I’m born in England, this is something I have wanted to do for a loooong time. I did once know another language, German actually, back in high school I was in the top of my class in German… but ask me anything now I will reply ‘guten tag’…, that’s all I got. For now I plan to learn French, why you may ask?, because I’m a huge fan of French cinema and I’m sick and tired of having to read subtitles.

  • Hobbies

Lastly for the month of April, I plan to pick up a new hobby. When it came to this one I was left confused, there are soooo many things that I am bad at. I mean if my hobby could be watching Netflix, I would be great at that, but the thing is it’s already a hobby and I already excel at it. So for a new hobby I plan to pick up cooking. I figured this would be a good hobby to have, not only am I learning a new skill but I might actually be able to serve something other than cheese pasta. Mmmm cheese pasta.

I definitely think there is always room to improve oneself and reading and picking up a new language are both things I have wanted to do but just haven’t found the time for (or made the time for). I think it’s great to also unplug and make time to do those things. I love this casual wear and the cropped hoodie and camel coat are my fav! xoxo, Christine

I think there is always room for improving oneself. In life we should continually be learning and striving to update our skills.

A book a day in this modern, busy, time poor world is a pretty tough ask. I don’t know about you but I love to read a good adventure, mystery or fictional book and usually they are quite long and take at least a week to read! I would love to have the time to read one per day, however sadly it is not possible.

Cooking is such a great life skill and I wish you the best with it! Perhaps even one day you can share your recipes on here (including your famous mac and cheese haha).

I am a firm believer that there is always room for improvement. Similarly like you I want to learn a new language. I used to study German at school but once I moved to England, I completely forgot everything.

Can we talk about how AMAZING those jeans look on you tho!? Girl, they fit you like a glove and I love the cropped sweatshirt and your hair styled like this, you look so cute! As for the tips, I think you shared some awesome suggestions, some of which I’ve never really heard suggested, like trying a new language! I think it’s a great idea because it adds more knowledge and you can immerse yourself in an entirely different culture, which is in itself quite amazing! Thanks for sharing, beauty, and I hope you’re having the best start to your week so far!

I feel ya! This past year I had been working on the same train of thought, wanting to step back from being consumed by social media for my work and making time to read, go on walks, get out and do things that are not related at all. It’s an on going thing too, as I am constantly falling back into those traps of being concerned with how well/ or not well my stats are, etc. But it isn’t making me happy to be that way, there is so much more out there of course. Anyway, I wish you all the best with the 42 things to do.

Totally agree about continual learning and self development. I’m finding less time to read these days than I would like (a young bub can do that!) but this month I did take up a new hobby I’ve been meaning to do for years – screen printing! It was so fun to get back into an art studio and do something creative and hands on. I’m planning on buying the gear I need so I can continue screen printing at home πŸ™‚ PS – Love this sports luxe outfit πŸ™‚
